Birth (Register 7a 279).
1881 census: 1 Prison Street, Woking, Surrey. Warwick Thomas was living at home with his parents in Woking in 1881. He enlisted with the Royal Marines at Chatham on 13/05/1890, giving his date of birth as 13/03/1872 which was incorrect. At the time of enlistment he gave his father as next of kin living in Gillingham, Kent.
1891 Census: A Private in the Royal Marines at Camp Browndown, Browndown, Titchfield, Fareham, South Hants.
Not found in the 1901 Census, and was in Canada in 1911.
He was discharged from the marines during 1905, probably on the 25th April. According to a member of the family, his mother was told that Warwick had been killed whilst fighting in the Boer War. This turned out to be incorrect, as Warwick married Florence Sanson on the 21st September 1911 in Saskatchewan, Canada.
Although Warwick gave his profession as a cook on various records, his adult life was mainly spent as a soldier. It appears he remained in Canada for the rest of his life dying at the age of 64 still serving as a sergeant with the Lord Strathcona's Horse Regiment. He also had served with various Canadian Regiments including the 49th Battalion Canadian Expeditionary Force during World War 1. He fought in France but shortly became too affected by problems with his feet, ankles, and legs. He was operated on in France, and then sent home via a military hospital in England. He was later to serve wi th the Canadian Garrison Military Police, before enlisting with Lord Strathcona's Horse Regiment.
Warwick Thomas appears to have been a bigamist. He got married to Elizabeth Myra Pooley in Newington, London, on 20th May 1916, whilst still married to Florence, who was in Canada.
Lived 12044, 79th Street, Edmonton
He is buried in the Burnsland Cemetery, Calgary, Alberta
